To be or not to be? That is the question.
These last two days we have been dealing with the verb to be. Today we finally were able to go on to, not to be.
I am really enjoying learning it all. I kind of feel like I am in elementary school again though. For example, today our teacher was giving us a noun and a verb and we had to make a sentence out of it.
Mimi ni mwanafunzi.
I am a student.
Yeye ni mwalimu.
She is a teacher.
Etc. etc. etc. Then we read a short story. Our teacher then had us write our own. Here was my short story with the translation following.
Yacob anatoka Somalia. Anazungumza lugha nne: Kisomali, Kiarabu, Kiingereza, na Kiswahili kidogo. Yeye ni mgeni wa Tanzania. Sasa anakaa Dar es Salaam lakini yukotayari kupumzika. Dar es Salaam ni mji mkubwa kwa yeye na hali ya hewa mbaya sana. Hajui kupumzika wapi na hajui kuuliza nani. Anazungumza Kiswahili kidogo sana. Anahitaji kujifunza Kiswahili. Labda anakuja MS-TCDC kujifunza Kiswahili?
Jacob is from Somalia. He speaks four languages: Somali, Arabic, English, and a little Swahili. He is a guest to Tanzania. Now he lives in Dar es Salaam but he is ready for a break. Dar es Salaam is too big of a city for him and the weather is very bad. He doesn’t know where to rest or who even to ask. He only speaks a very little Swahili. He needs to learn Swahili. Maybe he will come to MS-TCDC to learn Kiswahili?
Now if that isn’t a 3rd grade story I don’t know what is.
I feel like I should have some stick figure drawing to go along with it or something.
Ninajifunza. I am learning.

anyway…i was about to give u a lil gossip (not really), but i’m not sure if that person reads your blogs. that means i have to email you. :/ just kidding. anyway. i thought your story was very good, actually, besides it being interesting. if you care, our house was 66 degrees fahrenheit today. this is what mom said, “Joy, are you cold?”. The answer was yes, so she lovingly increased the temperature to approximately 67 or 68 degrees. My hands are still cold, but they seem to be getting better because we prayed for them. : ) randomly leaving. I LOVE YOU
